About Jen
Hello, thank you for visiting my website. I am a film and theatre director whose work is rooted in performance, movement, and the emotional dynamics between character, story and the audience. I began my career as a choreographer in Chicago before studying acting at CalArts, where my training in performance became the foundation for her approach to directing actors.
My early professional work took me to France and Germany, where I collaborated with avant-garde video artists and professional movement companies, devising movement choreographies for them and developing a lasting interest in the relationship between physicality, performance, and the camera.
After returning to California, I explored creating my own narrative films, video art, and performance-based work. My films have received festival recognition, while my video and performance work has been exhibited internationally and in galleries and museums in Los Angeles and beyond.
In 2018, I was selected as a director shadow on Blumhouse's television adaptation of The Purge, an experience that confirmed what I had been moving toward all along: directing narrative stories and working closely with actors, where I feel most at home.
My directing work now spans feature film, television, and vertical narrative series. My feature The Queerdos, which I directed, was an official selection of the Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival. My background in dance and choreography continues to shape my directing practice, particularly in creating physical, emotionally specific performances and exploring chemistry, movement, and embodied storytelling.
Alongside directing, I have taught acting for the camera, scene study, directing actors, and experimental film at the college and university level. I am based between Los Angeles and Paris and work internationally.
